Gerald Ondrey

Vietnam National Chemical Corp. (Vinachem) has contracted Haldor Topsøe (Lyngby, Denmark; for the supply of license, engineering, proprietary equipment and catalysts for the ammonia-synthesis unit of a new coal-based urea plant. With a capacity of 560,000 m.t./yr of urea fertilizer, the plant will become Vietnam’s second largest.

The plant, which will be located in Ninh Binh, is designed to serve the needs of the domestic market in Vietnam’s Northern region and is scheduled to come on-stream in 2011. Topsøe has previously supplied technology for the Phu My Fertilizer Plant, and Jørgen Gøl, director of marketing and sales in Topsøe’s Technology Div. is looking forward to the synergy between the two projects: “We will bring all our effort and experience from our earlier cooperation with the Phu My Fertilizer Plant to design and engineer an efficient plant for Ninh Binh,” he says.
