Eastman Chemical Co. (Kingsport, Tenn.; www.eastman.com) announced the completion of a new urethane extrusion line at its Martinsville, Virginia, plant. The new plant will serve applications in the window films and paint-protection films sectors.

“Eastman has world-class internal manufacturing and external sourcing partnerships that ensure our ability to grow, innovate and serve our customers in this growing market,” said Travis Smith, vice president and general manager of Eastman’s Performance Films business. “The integration provided by this urethane line to produce the raw materials needed to manufacture our paint protection films is a testament to our on-going investments to support the current and future needs of our dealers and channel partners.”

The company has announced a series of significant investments in paint-protection films over the past year, including a Performance Films Patterns and Software Center of Excellence, a major capacity expansion at its Martinsville manufacturing facility and the launch of a new generation paint protection film.

“This is part of a series of investments we’re making to continue innovating and differentiating Eastman as a uniquely integrated manufacturer and marketer of paint protection films,” said Darrell Reed, commercial director. “We are excited that this investment provides significant flexibility for future innovation of Eastman’s paint protection film portfolio and achieves Eastman’s vision of being the world’s preferred manufacturer of paint protection films.”
