A system to remove suspended solids from biotech samples

The MBPX 810H separation system is a mobile, easily installed plug-and-play module developed for microbiological applications, such as cell cultures, bacteria, rDNA products and vaccines. It is used for removing suspended solids with particle sizes of approximately 0.5 to 500 µm from a liquid with lower density than solids. The solids content is usually in the range of 0.1 to 20 vol.%. The system is suitable for medium-scale production needs and has a typical capacity of 500–4,000 L/h, depending on the feed characteristics. Among the advantages offered by the system are its hermetic design, which is achieved by a combination of hollow spindle inlet, a hermetic outlet provided by a mechanical seal, and a separator bowl completely filled with liquid. — Alfa Laval AB, Lund, Sweden
