Slash silo mixing times with this open mixing screw

A company in Hamburg, Germany had been using a 20-m3 mixing silo with internal pipe auger for 20 years. By replacing the pipe auger (photo, left) with an open mixing screw with special segments (photo, right), the company gained a better mixing result in a shorter mixing time (20 min instead of 4 h) and was able to drastically reduce the energy consumption of the mixer, says the manufacturer. This result is based on plastic regrind, but the mixing technology is suitable for all free-flowing materials. — Kreyenborg Plant Technology GmbH & Co. KG, Münster, Germany
