Comments (1) for Spotlight on Petroleum Refining in India
I read your article about the Spotlight on the Petroleum refining in India. The article was very interesting and gave a great insight to me about the refining scenario in India. Thanks for writing the article.

Would you mind if I ask you a question on the article.

You said in the article that in general the Refining capacity of India is surplus to the demand. Also the Indian PUblic sector refiners do not produce export quality spec'd lights and mid cuts for exports.

In such a scenario what is the advantage for public sector refiners to still increase the refining capacity further?

Second question, Why can't public sector refiners upgrade to higher complexity index to be able to improve GRM by increasing exports?

Third, how are public sector refiners showing profits on their balance sheets if they are under pricing the sales even after considering the tax subsidy? Should they be showing losses on the books that would have accumulated so much to a point of no return?
