Outotec to deliver concentrator technology to Mexico

Gerald Ondrey

Outotec Oyj (Espoo, Finland; www.outotec.com) has signed a contract with various Industrias Peñoles' mines ("Grupo Peñoles") for the delivery of grinding mills and filters for three new concentrators to be built in Mexico in the next years. The contract value is approximately EUR 30 million, and the order has been booked in Outotec's first quarter 2013 order intake.

Outotec's scope of delivery consists of six large grinding mills and seven pressure filters. In addition, Outotec provides installation, commissioning and start-up services as well as spare parts for the technology package.

Filter deliveries are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013 and grinding mills in the first half of 2014. Grupo Peñoles is a long-term customer of Outotec with installed base of five grinding mills and 40 Outotec Larox pressure filter units in their sulphide concentrate applications.

Founded in 1887 Grupo Peñoles is a mining group with integrated operations in smelting and refining non-ferrous metals, and producing chemicals. Grupo Peñoles is the world's top producer of refined silver and among the main producers of refined zinc and sodium sulfate. In addition, the company is also a major producer of metallic bismuth, refined gold and lead.

"Energy efficiency and sustainable production are vital factors in today's investment decisions. We are happy to provide Grupo Peñoles with a technology package that enables them to further reduce energy and water usage and thus environmental impact of their operations", says Jari Rosendal, president of Outotec's Non-ferrous Solutions business area.
