Polyamide-6 plant commissioned for Hangzhou Hangding Nylon Tech.

Gerald Ondrey

Hangzhou Hangding Nylon Tech. Co. and Uhde Inventa-Fischer GmbH (Berlin, Germany; www.uhde-inventa-fischer.com) have successfully commissioned a plant for the production of high-performance polyamide 6 for textile grade applications. The plant is located in the Economic Technical Development Area of Hangzhou City in Zhejiang Province, P.R. China and uses Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s Virgin Lactam Process (VLP) and High-Performance Polyamide 6 Additives (HPPA) to produce 47,000 metric tons (m.t.) per year of semi-dull chips.

The polymerization reaction is performed in an advanced proprietary single-stage VK tube with a nominal capacity of 130 m.t./d. This technology has been developed to produce a high-performance textile polymer which is highly homogenous, stands out for its excellent heat stability and UV resistance, meets the highest quality standards and therefore is perfectly suited for producing very fine FDY filaments.

Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s scope of supplies included the know-how license, formulae for the high-performance additives, basic engineering and supervision of the detail engineering, supply of all key equipment, supervision of erection and management of plant commissioning. In addition, the customer’s operating personnel was trained by experienced Uhde Inventa-Fischer specialists.
