Qinghai Mining selects Unipol polypropylene process technology for new plant

The Dow Chemical Company’s (Midland, Mich, www.dow.com) Unipol Polypropylene (PP) Process Technology from Union Carbide Chemicals & Plastics Technology LLC (a wholly owned Subsidiary of Dow) will be licensed by Qinghai Provincial Mining Co., Ltd., (Qinghai Mining) at a new plant in China.

The 400,000 metric ton per year (m.t./yr) homopolymer, random copolymer and impact copolymer facility is targeted to start up in 2016. Located in Haixi, Qinghai Province, China, the facility will be a grass-root coal coking and methanol-to-olefin complex.
