This waste-heat chiller is for mobile applications

| By Scott Jenkins

A new, three-ton chiller developed by this company is based on an absorption-cycle process with an aqueous ammonia solution as the working fluid. It is intended for applications requiring smaller or mobile units, such as military electronics cooling, refrigerated transport and others. Powered by waste heat, such as engine exhaust, the chiller operates with a highly efficient, non-adiabatic distillation process and specially designed heat exchangers that allow greater internal efficiency, the company says. — Energy Concepts Co., Annapolis, Md.
