Chevron invests in carbon-capture technology company ION Clean Energy

Chevron New Energies (CNE), a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc. (San Ramon, Calif.), announced a lead investment in ION Clean Energy (ION), a Boulder-based technology company that provides post-combustion point-source capture technology through its third-generation ICE-31 liquid amine system. Aker Carbon Capture ASA () today announced an agreement with SLB to combine their respective carbon capture businesses to support accelerated industrial decarbonization at scale. Bringing together complementary technology portfolios, leading process design expertise and an established project delivery platform, the partnership will leverage ACC's commercial carbon capture product offering and SLB's new technology developments and industrialization capability. Technip Energies and LanzaTech selected by DOE for potential investment in decarbonized ethylene technology

Technip Energies (Paris) and LanzaTech Global, Inc. (Skokie, Ill.) were selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations to begin award negotiations for up to $200 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding as part of the Industrial Demonstrations Program (IDP). The project aims to develop a transformational technology to produce sustainable ethylene from captured carbon dioxide (CO2).   MORE
Evonik Coatings & Adhesives to power acrylates production using renewable energy

Evonik Industries AG (Essen, Germany) announced that its Coating & Adhesive Resins Business Line has achieved a significant reduction in carbon emissions by powering the production of DEGACRYL specialty acrylates in Darmstadt with electricity from renewable sources. This initiative, effective since the start of the year, results in an annual CO2 savings of around 1,400 metric tons. ABB and Captimise to collaborate on decarbonization technologies for the cement industry

ABB, Inc. (Zurich, Switzerland) and carbon-capture specialist Captimise are extending their collaboration to drive the adoption of cost-effective carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies in the cement industry. Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two companies will develop screening, feasibility and Front-End Engineering and Design studies. The initiative will support cement producers in identifying suitable and cost-efficient carbon capture technologies covering their full carbon chain, from capture, liquefaction and buffer storage to transport, permanent storage and utilization. TotalEnergies acquires carbon-capture business from Talos Energy for $148 million

Talos Energy Inc. (Houston)  announced that it has entered into an agreement for the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary, Talos Low Carbon Solutions LLC (TLCS), to TotalEnergies E&P USA, Inc. (TotalEnergies) for a purchase price of $125 million plus customary reimbursements, adjustments and retention of cash, combined totaling approximately $148 million. The sale includes Talos's entire carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) business, including its three projects along the U.S. Gulf Coast: Bayou Bend CCS LLC, Harvest Bend CCS LLC and Coastal Bend CCS LLC.
