Protect vacuum pumps and improve production efficiency

Leybold

To guarantee that its vacuum pumps are effectively protected from the aggressive cleaning media used in hygienic applications, this company has developed a series of hygienic enclosures. These stainless-steel housings are available in seven different sizes, tailor made for each vacuum pump. Encased by these enclosures, the vacuum pumps can be positioned near machines and systems without any problems with exposure to harsh cleaning media during equipment washdown. This positioning enables improved vacuum performance because losses in pumping speed over long pipelines are avoided, leading to shorter process times. — Leybold GmbH, Cologne, Germany

An extremely small pressure-scanning device

Chell

The new nanoDAQ-LTC-16 (photo) is said to be the smallest intelligent pressure scanner currently on the market. Designed for applications where small size and light weight are a priority, the LTC retains all the features and performance of its contemporaries. Fully configurable, the nanoDAQ-LTC-16 will output pressure data in engineering units and makes use of 16 absolute transducers, which are thermally compensated and conditioned. Its size and rugged construction mean that the pressure scanner is suitable for use in harsh environments. Reconfiguration of the port outlets allows measurements to be made more conveniently in tight spaces. — Chell Instruments Ltd., Norfolk, U.K.

Use this tubing with hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders

Polygon Composites

PolySlide composite tubing (photo) is designed to replace metallic material in a variety of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinder applications.  Supplied as a cylinder tube ready for user assembly, or as fully engineered cylinder assemblies for equipment-manufacturer applications, the tubing is made of continuous filament-wound glass fiber and polymer resins. The fiberglass filament and resin materials combine together to form a high-strength component that exhibits dimensional stability, is non-corroding, impingement-resistant and is non-conductive. The cylinder tubing is suitable for high and low temperatures, as well as locations where grease, grit, salt or chemicals are present. The features of the tubing allow the seal to slide over the bore surface contour, minimizing interlocking friction. The inside diameter of the tubing has a smooth finish. Contact with the non-metallic rod guide bearing prevents galling and provides for a low coefficient of friction. A wear-resistant material incorporated into the bore surface further increases the lifespan of the composite cylinder tubing. — Polygon Composites Technology, Walkerton, Ind.

Improved bag filler reduces operator fatigue

Material Transfer & Storage

The Material Master Powerfill Select bulk bag filler (photo) features an exclusive rotating bag-support carriage for maximum filling efficiency and reduced operator fatigue. The bag-support carriage and fill head lower to a programmed operator height, then rotate for “reach-free” bag-strap connection. From the load position, an operator can safely connect an empty bag while standing on the floor in front of the filler unit in approximately 20-30 s. Once the bag spout is sealed, the bag is automatically inflated, filled and weighed with the push of a button. Once the fill cycle is complete, the bag inlet spout and straps automatically release, the fill head raises and the filled bag is removed. — Material Transfer & Storage, Inc., Allegan, Mich.
