These level devices do not require recalibration

This company’s OPTIWAVE 1500 devices (photo) are frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) non-contact radar level transmitters for solid and liquid applications. Designed and built for durability, the devices deliver drift-free, maintenance-free operation without the need for recalibration over the lifetime of the product, the company says, significantly reducing total cost of ownership. OPTIWAVE 1500 devices are available in two sizes: the 1530, with a measuring range of 0–15 m; and the 1560, which extends measurement capability to 30 m. Both are suitable for level-measurement applications in silos, tanks, stockpiles, bunkers and vessels with internal obstructions. The OPTIWAVE models feature a compact, robust design with fully potted electronics to protect internal components from dust, condensation, vibration and shocks. The flush-mounted, concave polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) lens antenna offers excellent chemical resistance and a self-draining design to prevent buildup, maintain a stable radar signal and ensure consistent performance, even with condensation present, the company says. With a narrow 4-deg beam angle, these transmitters achieve exceptional accuracy in tight spaces and in vessels with internal obstructions by avoiding interference from walls or fixtures. — Krohne Group, Duisburg, Germany
