Selection considerations for expansion joints differ depending on the perspective of those making selection decisions
In this article, expansion-joint selection questions are outlined from three different perspectives: Engineers who are designing and specifying expansion joints as part of larger process; Contractors and installers who are building the system; and end-users and maintenance personnel, who will be operating the system and performing repairs and replacements. The hope is that with a more complete understanding of the different perspectives for expansion joint selection, a more balanced and integrated picture of the needs will emerge, and a more intelligent selection — one that takes into account the needs of all stakeholders — can be made.
