"The Importance of Accurately Measuring Industrial Nitrogen Oxide Emissions"

A quick rundown of how to gain accurate and precise measurements for NOx emissions to meet EPA standards and regulations

Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) are a family of highly reactive gases that are produced naturally or from the fuel combustion process. Industrial and manufacturing processes account for a large percentage of the emissions, and the EPA has regulations in place to curb emissions. In 2021, 7.6 million tons of NOx were emitted in the United States, which was a decrease of 4.3 percent compared to the previous year. Since 1990, emissions of NOx in the U.S. have been cut by almost 70 percent. This reduction is likely a result of the EPA regulations implemented over the past three decades.

While these numbers are promising, regulations are still in place by the EPA and there’s still more that can be done to more accurately measure NOx emissions from industrial and manufacturing processes. This is where SICK can help with a few gas measurement analyzers. The key analyzers we will discuss are the GM32, GM700 TDLS, MCS200HW, and the GMS800 DEFOR.
