A spectrometer to meet natural gas-custody transfer standards
The XSPCT (photo) is a near-infrared measurement solution that evaluates hydrocarbon gas streams to provide real-time volume and quality data. It delivers measurements every 5–20 seconds, far surpassing traditional methods. It also features no moving parts, no consumable gases and over 10 years of low-maintenance field performance. The XSPCT optical spectrometer is said to be the first optical instrument to achieve the stringent reproducibility and repeatability requirements of GPA 2172 (API 14.5), the oil-and-gas industry standard for accurate custody transfer. The XSPCT measurement unit is designed to enable more accurate volume and quality data and greater transparency for royalty owners, operators and midstream companies than traditional methods. — Flotek Industries, Inc., Houston, Tex.
