A new Windows tablet for hazardous areas

The IS945.1 mobile tablet (photo) runs on Microsoft Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC (ARM64), and is this company’s first Windows-based device, bringing the familiar Windows environment directly into Ex-certified field operations. Enterprise-grade features, including BitLocker, Hyper-V and Remote Desktop are fully available. The ARM-based Qualcomm® QCM6490 chipset enables fanless operation with exceptional power efficiency. This is a key advantage for intrinsic safety design in Zone 1/21 environments. Modem, GPU and AI engines are integrated into a single system-on-a-chip, enabling reliable edge computing and local AI inference directly on the device. This opens new possibilities for real-time process data analysis, predictive maintenance and connected automation workflows in chemical and biotech facilities.
