The preliminary value for the October 2018 CE Plant Cost Index (CEPCI; most recent available) fell slightly compared to the previous month’s value. The decrease reversed an upward trend that had been ongoing throughout 2018. The Equipment, Buildings and Engineering & Supervision subindexes all decreased in October, offsetting a small rise in the Construction Labor subindex. The overall CEPCI value for October stands at 7.3% higher than the corresponding value from October 2017. Meanwhile, the CBI data for November 2018 show a small increase in the CPI output index from the previous month. In addition, the data show an increase in the October 2018 number for CPI value of output.
