The preliminary value for the CE Plant Cost Index (CEPCI) for October 2022 (most recent available) fell for the fourth consecutive month, following a long string of monthly increases between November 2020 and June 2022. For the October preliminary data, the decrease was driven by the Equipment and Buildings subindices, which both fell, while the Construction Labor and Engineering & Supervision subindices saw small rises. The current CEPCI value now sits at 7.2% higher than the corresponding value from October 2021. Meanwhile, the Current Business Indicators show decreases in the CPI output index and the CPI operating rate for October 2022, and an increase in the CPI value of output for September 2022.
