The preliminary value for the CE Plant Cost Index (CEPCI) for May 2025 (most recent available) rose compared to the previous month’s value. The May value is the highest in the past two years. The jump in the May CEPCI value was largely driven by a higher Equipment subindex, with higher prices for steel products. The Buildings subindex was also higher in May, and the Construction Labor subindex rose slightly. The Engineering & Supervision subindex declined by a small margin. The current CEPCI value now sits at 0.8% higher than the corresponding value from May 2024. Meanwhile, the Current Business Indicators (CBI) show small decreases in the CPI Output Index and CPI Operating Rate for May 2025.
