Bilfinger extends framework agreement with Covestro

| By Mary Bailey

Bilfinger SE (Mannheim, Germany) has received a five-year extension to its framework agreement with Covestro AG (Leverkusen, Germany). The collaboration, which began in 2014, includes both routine maintenance work and turnarounds of electrical equipment and systems at several Covestro sites in Germany. The continued objective is to ensure the highest standards of plant availability and efficiency.

The long-standing collaboration at the sites in the Dormagen and Uerdingen chemical parks is focused on Covestro’s chlorine production, which plays a central role within the plant as the basis for many other production processes carried out by the materials manufacturer. “The uninterrupted ongoing operation of chlorine production is critical to our processes. Through its professional maintenance work, Bilfinger has been making a major contribution to plant efficiency and minimizing downtime for years,” says Wolfgang Pagani, Technical Site Management NRW & Head of Contractors Management. “The team’s exceptional flexibility and work quality were decisive factors for us to once again extend our successful collaboration.”

Volker Sembill, Vice President Maintenance E&M DACH at Bilfinger, says: “We are very pleased with the extension of the framework agreement with Covestro. It serves as an example of the long-term, trusting partnerships we have with our customers. The collaboration demonstrates how we can enhance the efficiency and thus the sustainability of plants with targeted solutions that are consistent with our strategy.”

Under the contract for PCT assembly (Process Control Technology Assembly), Bilfinger is responsible for preventive and reactive maintenance of electrical equipment and systems as well as for general overhauls of electrical equipment during planned turnarounds. Routine maintenance services in 24/7 operation include the regular replacement and repair of cables and electrical components, for which Bilfinger expert teams are on site at both Covestro locations.
