BPCL selects Axens’ Octanizing technology

By Gerald Ondrey |

Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (BPCL; www.bharatpetroleum.com) has selected Axens (Rueil-Malmaison, France; www.axens.net) to provide the technology licenses for a naphtha hydrotreater and a continuous catalytic regeneration (CCR) reformer (Octanizing) at its Mumbai Refinery. The 900,000 ton/yr CCR reformer is being designed to operate on mixed mode to produce benzene and toluene or minimum 108 RON reformate destined for gasoline conforming to Euro III / IV specifications. Besides meeting the additional requirements of Euro IV fuels, this project will pave the way for further quality upgrading to meet Euro V standards. Axens is a technology benchmark in gasoline and diesel pool upgrading projects. Other clean fuel technologies are: Prime-G+ the leading gasoline desulfurization technology, Prime-D and Prime-K for ultra low middle distillates desulfurization, Hy-C10 mild-hydrocracking with simultaneous diesel quality improvement and HyK high conversion hydrocracking for high quality middle distillates.
