Chementator: Catalyst agreement

Biotage AB (Uppsala, Sweden; edlinks.chemengonline.com/5826-557) has signed two agreements with Reaxa Ltd. (Manchester, U.K.; edlinks.chemengonline.com/5826-558) to develop and market new catalyst packages for development of fine chemicals. The first agreement is to develop an encapsulated palladium catalyst, based on Reaxa’s MicroEnCat technology, which will be optimized for Biotage’s Microwave Synthesizers, which are reactor systems that use microwave radiation for heating. This development will include prefilled microwave vials and flow-through devices. The second agreement is to offer Reaxa’s QuadraPure metal-scavenging resins as Biotage FLASH purification cartridges. Both of these products reduce metal concentrations to low parts-per-million levels, making it easier to perform multi-step synthesis (CE, September 2005, p. 18).
