Chementator: Reforming catalyst

By Chemical Engineering |

First commercial results for a new reforming catalyst (R-98) of UOP LLC (Des Plaines, Ill.; edlinks.chemengonline.com/5829-545) were reported last month. Hunt Refining Co. (Tuscolaloosa, Ala.) has improved reformate yield from hydrotreated coker naphtha by about 2 vol.% since 2005, when it began using R-98 in a Fixed-Bed Platforming unit at its Tuscolaloosa refinery. The R-98 catalyst is currently operating in its second cycle at the Hunt refinery, with similar activity and gasoline yields.   Click here for a full pdf version of the Chementator Section
