Chementator: Sonocracking

By Gerald Ondrey |

SulphCo, Inc. (Houston, Tex.; edlinks.chemengonline.com/7370-580) has signed an agreement with Pt. Isis Megah (Isis; an Indonesian oil-and-gas services company), which grants Isis an exclusive distributorship in India, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. SulphCo’s first customer order, procured through Isis, for Sonocracking units with at least 30,000 bbl/d processing capacity, will be shipped to a port within the sales territory of Isis prior to delivery at the customer’s petroleum refinery. The patented Sonocracking technology (CE, April 2001, p. 23) uses ultrasound to desulfurize and hydrogenate crude oil and other oil-related products.
