This year’s event recognized the most noteworthy chemical engineering technology commercialized anywhere in the world during 2005 or 2006 and was sponsored in part by Emerson Process Management (St. Louis, Mo.; www.emersonprocess.com). CE presented the top prize to Axens (Rueil-Malmaison, France; www.axens.net; photo, above) for its Esterfip-H process for making biodiesel. Honor Awards were also presented to: Oxford Catalyst Ltd. (U.K.; www.oxfordcatalysts.com) for a process to make steam chemically; APSI (Elmhurst, Ill.; www.swensontechnology.com) for its mechanical vapor recompression technology; and Eastman Chemical Co. (Kingsport, Tenn.; www.eastman.com) for its IntegRex technology used for making PET resin. Meanwhile, the event paid tribute to CE’s late Editor-in-Chief Nicholas P.
