The Board of Directors of CP Kelco (Atlanta, Ga.; www.cpkelco.com) approved the first phase in a series of projects to expand its Brazilian pectin operation by 30%. The expansion project will significantly increase the facility’s capacity to produce grades of pectin with a new technology leveraging the local cost-effective raw material sources. Global pectin demand continues to exceed regional GDP rates.
“Global pectin growth has rebounded for various reasons, and we are experiencing high rates of adoption in new product launches in both emerging and mature markets,” says Susanne Sörgel, marketing director for the product line. CP Kelco offers a broad portfolio of pectin grades, including new patented forms, which provide functionality in solids and pH and the ability to create unique textures.
