The Ultimo Density Meter (photo) is an alternative to nuclear-based densitometers for applications where the material is abrasive, caustic or has high solids content, and where the regulatory requirements for nuclear operations may be burdensome. Trial units have been evaluated and purchased by some large mining companies with the expressed intent of qualifying a replacement for legacy nuclear densitometers.
