ECHA seeks public consultation on inclusion of substances on authorization list

| By Joy LePree

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is seeking public input regarding a list of ten substances it is planning to recommend for inclusion on the European Commission’s Authorization List.

The chemicals include:
  • Formaldehyde, oligomeric reaction products with aniline (technical MDA)
  • Arsenic acid
  • Dichromium tris (chromate)
  • Strontium chromate
  • Potassium hydroxyoctaoxodizincatedichromate
  • Pentazinc chromate octahydroxide
  • Bis(2-methoxyethyl) etiehr (diglyme)
  • N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC)
  • 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC)
  • 2,2’-dichloro-4,4’-methylenedianiline (MOCA)
Using the forms available on ECHA’s website (www.echa.europa.eu), interested parties are invited to comment on the draft recommendation. Comments are invited in particular on the uses that should be exempted from the authorization requirement.

The recommendation also specified the proposed conditions to the authorization requirement for each selected substance. These conditions particularly include the latest application and sunset dates and any specific exemptions of uses from the authorization requirement.
