Dynamotive in advanced negotiations for Biooil plant
February 14, 2008 — Dynamotive USA, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynamotive Energy Systems Corp., is in negotiations with officials to ascertain the feasibility of locating one or more "fast-pyrolysis" plants in La. The plants under discussion could process 220 ton/d of wood waste biomass to produce 225,000 bbl/yr of BioOil and 14,000 ton/yr of carbon char, a totally renewable-energy production equivalent to more than 175,000 bbl/yr of crude oil. The potential location of the project is at the Industrial Park north of Shreveport, La. In December of 2007, Dynamotive announced the selection of Willow Springs, Mo. as the location for a similar facility.
PetroChina Fushun selects Dow and Aker Kvaerner for PP project in China
February 13, 2008 — PetroChina Petrochemical Co. has selected Dow’s Unipol process technology for its new 300,000-ton/yr polypropylene (PP) facility. Aker Kvaerner will provide the extended process design package and technical advisory services. The plant will be built in Fushun, Liaoning Province, China, and is scheduled for completion in 2010.
