Tokuyama Corp. has announced plans to construct a second plant for high-purity isopropyl alcohol for electronic manufacturing (high-purity IPA) at Formosa Tokuyama Advanced Chemicals Co., Ltd. (FTAC; Kaohsiung City, Taiwan), a jointly held venture comprising Tokuyama Corp. 50% shareholding and Formosa Plastics Corp. 50% shareholding. The new IPA plant will have a production capacity of 30,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr), and FTAC plans to commence operations in September 2028.
Tokuyama and Formosa Plastics Corp. established a joint venture, FTAC, in October 2020, for the purpose of manufacturing and selling high-purity IPA, and have taken steps to engage in high-purity IPA business activities in Taiwan. As semiconductor manufacturing processes become increasingly sophisticated and multilayered, demand for improvements in the quality of high-purity IPA and stable supply are anticipated to expand.
