Foster Wheeler AG (Zug, Switzerland; www.fwc.com) announced today that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract by The Dow Chemical Company (Midland, Michigan; www.dow.com) to provide detailed engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the LA-3 Crack More Ethane Project at Dow’s Plaquemine petrochemical facility in Louisiana. The objective of this project is to improve the plant ethane flexibility to take advantage of low-cost feedstock. The scope will include brownfield additions and retrofit modifications to the plant. This project is part of Dow’s comprehensive U.S. Gulf Coast investment strategy. The Foster Wheeler contract value was not disclosed. The initial release of work will be included in the company’s second quarter 2013 bookings, while the main release is expected to be recorded in the third quarter of 2013.
