Foster Wheeler awarded EPCm contract for EPAX’s fish-oil facility at Seal Sands

Foster Wheeler AG (Zug, Switzerland; www.fwc.com) announced today that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract by EPAX Pharma UK Ltd., the U.K. subsidiary of Trygg Pharma AS, based in Norway, for the provision of engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) services to convert parts of the former Lundbeck pharmaceutical plant at Seal Sands, Teesside, U.K., to process fish oil to produce an omega-3 active pharmaceutical ingredient. The Foster Wheeler contract value was not disclosed and will be included in the company’s second-quarter 2012 bookings. Foster Wheeler’s role as the EPCm contractor includes detailed design, procurement and contracts management on behalf of EPAX, and also the provision of project, construction, pre-commissioning and validation management services. This award extends Foster Wheeler’s involvement in the project, which commenced with basic engineering in the third-quarter of 2011, followed by front-end engineering design. Operational qualification of the converted facility is scheduled for the first-quarter of 2013.
