Gasification

By Chemical Engineering |

Last month, China’s third largest oil company, CNOOC, and Choren Industries GmbH (Freiberg, Germany; edlinks.chemengonline.com/6518-548) launched a new joint venture — Choren-CNOOC Beijing Gasification Engineering Technology Co. Ltd. (edlinks.chemengonline.com/6518-549) — to market technologies for gasifying solid feedstock, such as coal and biomass. Within the JV, the two firms will market entrained-flow gasification technologies in China, which were developed at the German Fuel Institute in the former DDR under the leadership of Choren’s founder, Bodo Max Wolf, and were developed to the industrial production stage at the Schwarze Pumpe Gas Combine by Reinhold Grunwald, Choren’s chief technology officer for China projects.
