GEA to build cooling tower in Florida

By Gerald Ondrey |

GEA Power Cooling Inc. (Lakewood, Colo.; www.geaict.com), a subsidiary of GEA Group (Bochum, Germany; www.geagroup.com), received an order to supply, design and erect a cooling tower for the combined cycle power plant “West County” in Palm Beach County, Fla. The 10-million-euro order will be commissioned in 2011. GEA already had supplied the first two cooling towers for this power plant, which will have a total installed capacity of 3,750 MW. The cooling towers supplied by GEA will enhance the ecological and economical operation of the power plant. “This new order from the US corresponds to a recent trend in this region to invest into new, efficient and environmentally friendly power generation”, said Juerg Oleas, CEO of GEA Group AG.
