Jacobs awarded contract by China Sun Paper

By Gerald Ondrey |

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Pasadena, Calif.; www.jacobs.com) has been awarded an engineering and procurement supply contract by China Sun Paper for an integrated chlorine dioxide plant in Laos. Officials did not disclose the contract value. Jacobs is providing basic design engineering of the plant, limited detailed engineering, procurement of key equipment —including supply of its proprietary electrolyzers — and materials, in addition to technical services for commissioning. The plant is a part of a scheme to be built and developed by China Sun Paper that includes a 300,000 metric tons per year bleached-hardwood kraft-pulp mill and 100,000 hectares of eucalyptus and acacia plantations in the southern province of Savanakhet in Laos. Jacobs’ Executive Vice President Gary Mandel commented, "We are delighted to build on our relationship with China Sun Paper and look forward to assisting this project using our low chlorine technology for the production of chlorine dioxide."
