By Gerald Ondrey |

JGC Gulf International, JGC Corp.’s (Yokohama, Japan; www.jgc.co.jp) subsidiary in Saudi Arabia, has been awarded the Water Treatment Facilities – Phase 3 (Onshore) project by Khafji Joint Operations (KJO), a joint venture between Aramco Gulf Operations and Kuwait Gulf Oil Co. Khafji is in the Neutral Zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. JCG Gulf will perform engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and pre-commissioning work for new water-treatment facilities for treating produced water (170,000 bbl/d), new water injection facilities and utilities associated with KJO’s crude processing facilities. The contract is valued at more than $150 million under a lump-sum turnkey scheme. The project is scheduled for completion in 2013.
