Lummus Technology wins contract for propane-dehydrogenation unit in China

CB&I (The Woodlands, Tex.) announced today that Lummus Technology has been awarded a contract by Ningbo Haiyue New Material Co. for the license and engineering design of a grassroots propane dehydrogenation unit to be built in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China. The unit will use the Catofin dehydrogenation process with Süd-Chemie’s latest Catofin catalyst to produce 600,000 metric tonnes per annum of propylene and is expected to start up in 2014. Propylene is a building block used to produce a variety of products including plastics and solvents.
