LyondellBasell PP technology selected for new plant in China

LyondellBasell (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) announced that Quanzhou Grand Pacific Chemical Co. Ltd. (QGPC), a fully owned Chinese subsidiary of Grand Pacific Petrochemical Corp. (GPPC) of Taiwan, will use the LyondellBasell Spheripol technology for a new polypropylene plant to be built in Quanzhou, P.R. China. The plant will be designed to produce 450,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr) of polypropylene.

“The Spheripol process is the most widely used polypropylene technology in the industry and is very well established in the Asian market,” said Neil Nadalin, Director of Licensing at LyondellBasell. Nadalin added: “The licensing track record of the Spheripol technology remains outstanding, allowing operators to grow their business based on a technology with leading operating cost, excellent product properties and outstanding plant operability.”
