May we reintroduce ourselves

By Chemical Engineering |

Throughout Chemical Engineering’s (CE) 105-year history, a host of great editors have served the chemical process industries (CPI) with timely, practical information. As that legacy continues, we are proud to reacquaint you with a few familiar faces and introduce you to those that you do not know.

Rebekkah J. Marshall has been promoted from Managing Editor to Editor in Chief. Ms. Marshall’s revered experience with CE and previous employment as a chemical engineer in the engineering, procurement and construction sector make her eminently qualified to assume this position. Ms. Marshall joined the CE staff as an Assistant Editor in January of 2001, under the leadership of Nicholas P. Chopey, the magazine’s late Editor In Chief. Ms. Marshall was named Associate Editor in 2003 and became Managing Editor in 2005. Moving forward she will be responsible for the publication’s editorial direction, including that of expanded online offerings, building on the unparalleled editorial quality and integrity that the magazine continues to hold high. Ms. Marshall holds a B.S.Ch.E. from the University of Kansas with emphases in biotechnology and environmental studies.

Meanwhile, Dorothy Lozowski has been promoted to Managing Editor. Ms. Lozowski came to CE in 2005, with 20 years of experience in the chemical industry. She started her career as an R&D engineer with Stauffer Chemicals, and then held several positions, including R&D project manager and Technical Development Manager, with Akzo Nobel’s Polymer Chemicals group, both in the U.S. and in Europe. Ms. Lozowski holds B.S.Ch.E. and M.S.Ch.E degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Stationed in our Frankfurt bureau, Senior Editor Gerald Ondrey has been a member of the CE editorial staff for over 15 years. He joined the magazine in 1992 as an Assistant European Editor and was named Associate European Editor in 1998. Prior to joining CE, Dr. Ondrey spent three years as a visiting scientist and one year as a post-doctoral researcher at two different Max Planck Institutes in Germany. Before that he was a chemistry and physics professor for 6 years at Gannon University in Erie, Pa. Dr. Ondrey holds a B.S. in chemistry (minor in physics and math) from Gannon College, and M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in physical chemistry from Columbia University.

The newest member of our staff is Kate Torzewski. She holds a B.S.Ch.E. from the University of Virginia with a concentration in biotechnology.

As you can see we have an extremely well-qualified ensemble of chemical engineers writing for this magazine and all the ancillary products associated with our brand. Meanwhile, we have a respected roster of correspondents positioned throughout the world to provide you with CPI news coverage that is truly global. We look forward to your continued input and support.
