On October 20, the official ceremony of commissioning of the new 1,350 metric tons per day. Topsøe methanol plant took place in OAO ShchekinoAzot, Russia. The contract for engineering and supply between Haldor Topsøe A/S (Lyngby, Denmark; www.topsoe.com) and OAO ShchekinoAzot was signed in 2007. Topsøe’s scope included license, basic engineering and supplies of equipment: Secondary reformer with CTS burner, methanol reactor, waste heat boilers, steam drums and Topsøe catalysts. The new methanol plant is the first modern methanol plant constructed in Russia since 1984.
