Nuberg EPC (New Delhi, India; www.nuberg.in) has been awarded a $53 million turnkey project contract by Middle East Chemicals Company Ltd. (Midchem; Saudi Arabia). The exclusive agreement covers EPC & LSTK services and solutions for a chlor-alkali plant and a calcium chloride plant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and will be executed for Saudi Factory for Chlorine and Alkalies (SACHLO), Midchem’s group company. The production capacity will be 60 ton/d for the chlor-alkali plant (an expansion of the existing 60-ton/d plant to a total of of 120 ton/d), and 150 ton/d for the calcium chloride plant.

The chlor-alkali plant will deploy bipolar membrane cell technology provided by Inovyn (formerly INEOS technologies), technology licensor for the expansion plant. For the calcium chloride plant, Nuberg EPC will partner with one of the world renowned technology licensors having technology for making calcium chloride flakes with 77–80% and 94–96% concentration.

Nuberg EPC’s scope of services for this project includes process, technology know-how, basic and detailed engineering, design, procurement, manufacture and supply of plant equipment including complete erection, construction, project management, commissioning and start-up of the plant.

The chemical project is Midchem’s second alliance with Nuberg EPC after successful commissioning of its 60 ton/d greenfield chlor-alkali plant, which was designed and delivered for SACHLO in 2012. Being its fifth turnkey project in Saudi Arabia and second from Midchem, the project is a testimony of Nuberg’s global expertise in project management capabilities, engineering services, international quality construction and on time project delivery. This association firmly establishes Nuberg EPC’s world-class and well recognized credentials for EPC projects in Saudi Arabia. Nuberg EPC is also executing three other projects in Saudi Arabia, which include an anisole plant and a sulfuric acid plant for ADDAR Industries and a sulpholane chemical plant for Global Company for Chemical Industries in Jubail industrial city.
