Oxea increases production capacity for isononanoic acid

The global chemical company Oxea (Monheim am Rhein, Germany; www.oxea-chemicals.com) successfully completed a debottleneck of its existing isononanoic acid production units in Oberhausen, Germany. The company will use the additional production capacity to support the growth of the global synthetic lubricants market. This debottlenecking project is the first in a series of improvements designed to increase Oxea’s production capacity for carboxylic acids in the short term. The company also aims to bring its sixth world-scale carboxylic acids production plant on stream in 2021.






“Additional projects to further increase our carboxylic acids production are at various stages of planning and implementation. Oxea’s flexible approach to manufacturing isononanoic acid in multiple units provides us with opportunities to quickly expand our supply position,” said Kyle Hendrix, Global Commercial Director for Carboxylic Acids and Derivatives.


Oxea is a global manufacturer of oxo intermediates and oxo derivatives, such as alcohols, polyols, carboxylic acids, specialty esters, and amines. These products are used for the production of high-quality coatings, lubricants, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, flavorings and fragrances, printing inks and plastics. Oxea is part of the Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C. (OOC), a commercial company wholly owned by the Government of Oman.
