IoT safety technology implemented at Peruvian mine
In January, Mina Justa — a major Peruvian mining project — implemented an internet-of-things (IoT) worker-safety solution, developed by StraconTech in collaboration with Abeeway and this company. The main goal of the solution was real-time and historical tracking of people in blasting zones (photo). The IoT-based worker-safety solution uses Abeeway Smart Badges, which were seamlessly integrated with the LoRaWAN network managed by this company’s ThingPark Enterprise platform. The Abeeway Smart Badge is a portable multi-mode tracker in ID card format, equipped with embedded sensors and utilizing GPS, low-power GPS, Wi-Fi Sniffer, BLE and LoRaWAN TDoA geolocation technologies, enables precise and continuous tracking both indoors and outdoors. The Smart Badge offers various functionalities, such as SOS panic alarms, notifications for danger zones and restricted areas, safety evacuation monitoring and location heatmaps for optimization of supervisor-to-worker ratios in large industrial sites. — Actility, Paris, France
