Regenerative blowers with premium corrosion resistance

Rotron CP and EN regenerative blowersRotron CP and EN regenerative blowers (photo) are engineered to provide safety and efficiency in hazardous and corrosive environments. Constructed from aluminum, these blowers are naturally spark- and corrosion-resistant, distinguishing them from other blowers that are typically made of steel or other materials that are vulnerable to corrosion and sparking. This advantage is further enhanced by the inclusion of stainless-steel nuts, bolts and hardware, standard across all Rotron regenerative blowers for chemical processing applications. In contrast, many comparable blowers opt for low-cost zinc-plated fasteners that are more susceptible to corrosion. The proprietary Chem Tough process used to fabricate Rotron regenerative blowers transforms the aluminum into an oxide ceramic with selected fluorocarbons, providing high levels of chemical resistance, hardness and permanent lubricity. Additionally, Rotron regenerative blowers feature full C-face motors designed to protect motor windings and bearings from corrosive gases and the airstream. — Bison, an Ametek business, Kent, Ohio

Precisely adjust centrifuge separations with this new system

Varipond C (photo) is a new technical solution for decanter centrifuges that enables simple, fast and precise adjustment of the separation zone and pond depth. Varipond C ensures consistent separation results and high product yields in the production of beverages, food and edible oils, as well as in petroleum refineries. It also helps to reduce energy consumption by around 30% compared to conventional centripetal pumps. The system is available for all of this company’s decanters ranging from the CF 3000 to CF 8000 models, and is suitable for both two-phase and three-phase processes, regardless of decanter size, where users need to respond to varying feed conditions, flowrates or different starting materials. Varipond C can be combined with a hydrohermetic seal to prevent oxygen intake. This reduces product oxidation and improves quality, which is particularly beneficial in the beverage industry. Combined with the pre-installed Internet of Things (IOT) gateway and connection to GEA Cloud, Varipond C also enables comprehensive process optimization. — GEA AG, Düsseldorf, Germany

Smart analysis provides notable drivetrain energy savings

Drivetrain Analyzer CloudDrivetrain Analyzer Cloud (photo) helps companies significantly reduce the energy consumption of their drive systems through energy-based maintenance. The Connection Module IOT collects extensive data from the drive train and transmits it to the Drivetrain Analyzer Cloud. There, relevant operating data such as load, electrical power consumption and energy consumption of the drives are continuously calculated and displayed. Drivetrain Analyzer Cloud also helps to save energy by using advanced artificial-intelligence (AI) analysis algorithms to accurately detect deviations from the optimal operating point, monitor energy consumption, CO2 emissions and costs, and generate optimization suggestions. Thanks to its data-driven approach, it even precisely calculates the return on investment (ROI) so that future investments can be allocated as accurately as possible. This allows users to take targeted actions to increase energy efficiency, for example, by adjusting the engine control, maintenance intervals and load distribution. Drivetrain Analyzer Cloud also detects when an engine is operating inefficiently and automatically recommends a more efficient alternative. According to this company, using Drivetrain Analyzer Cloud can reduce the energy consumption of a drive system by 10 to 20%. — Siemens AG, Munich, Germany

A synthetic clean and flush product for heat-transfer systems

Globaltherm C1 FF is a synthetic clean and flush product (photo) designed to simplify maintenance for industries relying on heat transfer systems. Globaltherm C1 FF offers a safer, faster and more cost-effective alternative to traditional cleaning methods, says the manufacturer. Specifically formulated for systems operating with synthetic product in liquid phase, Globaltherm C1 FF is engineered to tackle deposits caused by oxidized, degraded or contaminated fluids that can foul system interiors. This fouling compromises efficiency and safety, making cleaning essential before recharging the system with fresh fluid. A key feature of Globaltherm C1 FF is its synthetic hydrocarbon composition, which includes a high flashpoint and high initial boiling point, making it a safer alternative to conventional cleaning agents, particularly for applications involving high-flashpoint products. Additionally, the product is compatible and miscible with most organic heat-transfer fluids, ensuring seamless integration and cleaning without a full drain-down of residual fluid. — Global Heat Transfer Ltd., Staffordshire, U.K.

Centrifugal pumps can benefit from this new service platform

This company recently launched its Energy Optimization Service (photo) for centrifugal pumps in energy-intensive industries. This service is designed to create new best-practice standards for the operation of centrifugal pumps across their lifecycle. The solution brings together digital analysis, machine learning and ongoing monitoring to drive down carbon emissions, enhance reliability and reduce energy costs. According to the company, the solution has been deployed at a manufacturing site in Spain, resulting in five pumps being re-rated. These modifications reportedly increased energy efficiency from 72 to 83%, reducing site electricity use by over 5,000 MWh annually. Consisting of four steps, the service starts with an initial pump energy audit to identify areas of inefficiency with the proprietary PumpWise calculator, outlining potential energy and monetary savings. Next, a tailored proposal is presented and recommended upgrades and retrofits are implemented. Post-retrofit, reliability and efficiency are maintained through access to the proprietary Blue Box machine-learning analysis platform. — Sulzer Ltd., Winterthur, Switzerland
