Saipem identifies cyber-attack on its servers

Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) provider Saipem S.p.A. (San Donato Milanese, Italy; www.saipem.com) announced the identification of a cyber-attack on its servers. That company says it is collecting all the elements useful for assessing the impact on its infrastructures and the actions to be taken to restore normal activities and also is in the process of notifying the report of the incident to the competent authorities. Cybersecurity is of increasing concern to engineering and manufacturing companies.

Some of Saipem’s recent project contracts include a joint project with Samsung and Petrofac in Thailand, as well as the construction of a low-emissions ethanol and biomethane plant in California.
