Saipem selected to provide engineering services for Aduro’s plastic-waste recycling facility

| By Mary Bailey

Saipem S.p.A. (Milan, Italy) has been selected by Aduro Clean Technologies Inc. (London, Ontario, Canada), a company specializing in the valorization and chemical recycling of plastic waste, to provide preliminary services for the development of its first industrial-scale facility. The plant will be based on Aduro’s proprietary Hydrochemolytic™ technology and will be built at Chemelot Industrial Park in Sittard-Geleen, Netherlands, one of Europe’s leading integrated chemical hubs, located near the borders with Belgium and Germany.

The project aims to develop an industrial-scale facility capable of converting complex plastic waste into feedstocks that can be reintroduced into chemical and petrochemical production processes, with an initial capacity of 10,000 m.t./yr.

As part of the project, Saipem (Milan, Italy) will provide preliminary engineering and procurement services, support the technical and economic optimization of the initiative, and contribute to the industrialization of Aduro’s technology. This phase represents a key milestone in the project’s development and may pave the way for subsequent engineering, construction, and commissioning activities.

This collaboration further reinforces Saipem’s role as a partner for the industrialization and scale-up of innovative technologies that support the circular economy and advanced plastics recycling.
