SNC-Lavalin Inc. (Montreal, Canada; www.snclavalin.com) has acquired Groupe Stavibel, a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm based in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Groupe Stavibel provides engineering consulting expertise in numerous fields of activity in the buildings, infrastructure, transport, mining, and environment sectors. The firm has approximately 300 permanent employees working in several offices throughout Abitibi-Témiscamingue and in the Greater Montreal area. “Groupe Stavibel expands and reinforces our local presence in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, where there has been a resurgence of activity in the infrastructure and mining sectors,” says Riadh Ben Aïssa, executive vice-president, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. “The synergies between our two companies will broaden our expertise and widen the range of services we offer to clients in this region, as well as in Quebec’s Far North, and further build on our good relations with the native communities.”
