Solstice Advanced Materials (Morris Plains, N.J.) has significantly strengthened its position in the global-oral care supply chain with the recent completion of a €5.5 million expansion of its stannous fluoride (SnF₂) manufacturing facility in Seelze, Germany. The expansion increases Solstice’s production capacity by approximately 45%, enhancing the company’s ability to meet growing global demand for advanced oral care formulations.
The recent investment comes as stannous fluoride continues to gain momentum as a key ingredient in modern toothpaste formulations.
“This expansion was driven by what our customers need most: confidence that they can scale without compromise,” said Gerald Talholff, Seelze site leader and local Managing Director at Solstice. “Increasing stannous fluoride capacity isn’t just about adding equipment – it’s also about demonstrating the expertise and commitment of our teams, who work every day to ensure quality, reliability and performance as demand grows. The expansion will allow Solstice to support our customers’ innovation and long-term growth, today and into the future.”
Demand for stannous fluoride has surged in recent years, with global demand projected to grow at approximately 5-6% annually through the next decade. This growth is driven by large-scale toothpaste portfolio reformulations and increasing consumer preference for multi-benefit oral care products. Offering a powerful combination of cavity protection, enamel strengthening, gum health support and sensitivity reduction, stannous fluoride has become a critical ingredient in next-generation oral care brands.
“This investment reflects Solstice’s broader strategy as an independent specialty materials company to make disciplined, targeted investments in high-value markets where materials science supports improved health outcomes,” said Michael Sweeney, Global Product & Marketing Leader at Solstice. “By expanding our stannous fluoride production, we’re directly addressing a critical customer need, enabling our partners to scale production, reformulate portfolios, plan for long-term growth and innovate across next-generation oral care.”
Together, these developments reinforce Solstice’s role as a long-term partner to the oral care industry. With expanded capacity in Seelze and a continued focus on operational excellence, the company is positioned to deliver reliable supply and consistent performance as demand for stannous fluoride continues to grow worldwide.
