This Angle Valve is Tough and Safe Enough for Chlorine Railcars

| By Chemical Engineering

Now upgraded for use in chlorine-railcar and tanker-truck transportation, the A-713-ML angle valve is approved for use in railcar service by the Association of American Railroads. A plug-style, soft-seated and self-centering valve, the A-713 is constructed of a Monel body with Hastelloy C trim in a unique seat design that permits self-draining — reducing the concern of product trapped in the body after valve closure. The valve’s design also includes a live-load, valve stem packing that provides constant force on the packing rings, which ensures tight sealing, loading compensation against packing wear as well as thermal expansion and contraction of the packing. As a safety measure, the valves can be capped with both the firm’s B-240 emergency response kit and the Chlorine Institute’s C-Kit. — Midland Manufacturing Corp., Skokie, Ill.
