This company is adding an analog level indicator to its FD drum discharge system. The indicator allows operators to see how much material remains in the drum at any time without opening it. New FD systems will be supplied with this feature as standard starting in January 2027. The laser-marked scale on the guide tube ensures lasting legibility. Operators can quickly check the current fill level and better plan the next product changeover.

Existing FD systems can be easily retrofitted: Customers simply order the new compressed air tube with the level indicator and install it themselves. Its threaded connection allows installation in just a few simple steps without tools. There is no need to replace the entire system. The FD drum discharge system empties 100- and 200-L open-head drums with minimal residual material. Compressed air at an adjustable pressure of 0.1 to 1.0 bar is supplied through the central guide tube to the space beneath the discharge piston. The plunger plate rises from the bottom of the drum, gently conveying the material through the product line to the filling system. The system is suitable for liquids and pastes, including ointments, gels, and other viscous materials with viscosities of up to 180,000 mPa·s. All metal components are made of stainless steel; the seals comply with FDA and USP requirements and are available in silicone, Viton and EPDM. The system has a proven track record spanning approximately 30 years. The guide tube with the level indicator is available to order now, with deliveries starting in January 2027. — Müller DrumTec GmbH, Rheinfelden, Germany
